Ciao a presto Aldo
Our network for PCs building:
Hellow friends,i hope every one is ok once again.
Thank God,am here updating you.
Workshop Status:
The mobile phone workshop is progressing well.
We are expanding our technical knowldge by understandings and being into daily workshop works.
-We are testing our DIY mobile phone solar chargers, sent by a friend from a UK DIY Solar company.
PCs building Progress.
-We have been discussing this idea back to our organization (U.Y.O.G.A..).
-We have created a local discussion class for PCs BUILDING idea.Where we share local knowledge on PCs repair and maintance works.
-We have started our initial steps in building our first PC for the workshop, supported by Ricardo from MS LAB.
“If we can build thousands PCs,we can build millions of jobs for millions jobless young people”.
Attention Areas.
How do we start this net-work?
IFS team members,Aldo and Chiara should take a lead on this matter..
They have experiences and great understanding of the PCs assembling knowledge.
In case of sending or delays or any other problems, members have to be updated.
To organize our corrective duties in the network.
Individual duties in each section/part.
To address any technical implications/supports or misunderstandings.
We should all understand:
-Issues that might cause problems such as failure as initial step, delays or impeding progress.
-What problems/implications should we expect,
Technology
-The ISF is total aware of this critical side.
-it is a technical side on how to deal with second hand/used electronics,
QUESTIONS TO ALDO and CHIARA.
Costs
-Any projections of costs for:
Who will collect PCs?
ISF is our ground to explore this possibility.
Do people freely donate their old computer?
Do we need volunteers to do so?
This is very important for all of us to know, becouse this is how we are learning.
Do we have some realistic expectations for future expenditures.
Friends in the net-work:
-Our main routes:
-From Italy to Kenya.
-From Kenya to Tanzania.
-Updates on progresses.
-Who will get involve in each initial steps.
-Off course we need a technical personels in initial steps for our resouces allocation.

Our Next Review
-Specified period of time to start our pysical/action plan.
-List future Specific resiponsibilities/supports or an items that will be done by each of our network member.
-The number of activities that will be involved with their planned schedules.
-Any one involved in the idea should crealy understands it.

Dear friends,
great William! Thanks Aldo , Chiara and ISF for your collaboration, please communicate together also with Crispinus Ouma Pamaba +393200106734 +393200106734 William knows Crise (Crispinus) and we are constantly in touch with him. He lives in Lecce. I have alteady informed Chiara that he is the reference of Kenyans in Lecce and also of several Kenyans in Italy. What we are sharing with Chrispinus is to send more computers by a container to Kenya and from Kenya to Tanzania for the benefit of some kenyans as well. Crise knows people dealing with container shipping. Furthermore I would like to put you in touch with Chiara Pozzi who knows somebody in Nairobi of an NGO importing old computer for local projects. Chiara has worked in a project in Kenya in elearning and lives in Milan. Could be possible to collect many computers? Who will work on it In Italy and Kenya and Tanzania?
All the best to all of you!!!
Maria Agnese
Hi William
thanks for your update and sharing your ideas with us:
- ISF can make a desktop pc available to you (with Ubuntu, in English if you agree)
- Maria Agnese could organize for delivery to you onve that ISF could deliver the machine in Lecce (Italy) to a contact person that Maria Agnese will indicate (name, phone, Lecce address) to our ISF Puglia volunteer
I will keep you updated whenever ISF members shall react with comments or further possibility to help your pc-building and lab project.
All the best and looking forward to finalize desktop pc shipment asap
kindest regards,
Aldo
Dear Aldo and all ISF friends,
I just wanted to update you,on regard to some questions about the donated desktop by ISF royal friend.
Why a desktop?
It could have been a laptop/desktop,its a very kindly support from you.I pray to God for your understanding communication and well being.
With the desktop i would do the followings:
A heavy duty desktop is useful for PCs building.
-would be used to test old cables, donated hardware devices and parts, pci cards,RAMs for PCs building project etc.
-would test an old pc parts for PCs building.
-It would be used for mobile/pc building complex softwares.
-Transfering files to/from mobile or another PC.
-Mobile unlock,swap and flashing etc.
A laptop can not effectively handle PC building.
Suggestion:
Aldo,
I know it costs a lot to shift such a heavry machine to Africa.
But you can also donated the light-weighted prts such as:
-MOTHERBOARD CHIP,RAM,CDROM,HARD DISK,PCI CARDS ETC.
In that way,i will have to buy other stuff such as:
-PC CASE+PSU,CRT/FLAT MONITOR,KEYBOARD,MOUSE,UPS ETC.
I have recently been charting with Richard Freeman, aka ricardo of Ms Lab.Our dicussion covered among the things, also being how best to start a pc building project at our mobile phone repair workshop.
This project will enable us share our PCs maintanace knowldge with jobless young people/community by engaging them in PCs building revolution, then to small income generating activities(printings, digital services etc)using those built PCs.But if we cheaply build PCs and cheaply re-sell them to the community.
PCs building from old donated parts:
In our discussion we considered that, young people in Africa would build a lot of PCs if they have got good knowldge of doing so.
To build PCs they would use old donated parts from friends or new if affordable, refurbished parts, local found parts etc.
But the majority young people have not gone to colleges or university,or even completed secondary scholl.HOW DO WE SPREAD THE KNOWLDGE????
Thrown e-wastes,old pc parts, damaged machines and cheaply sold computers parts are seen everywher in our land.ARE YOUNG PEOPLE AWARE OF/TAKING IT AS OPPORTUNITY??
Millions of young people in Africa have no employnment/access to information due to poor education system which does not equip us with technical skills.IS SKILLS EMPOWERMENT NOT IMPORTANT??
William Wambura.
Thank you for your contributions and relpy on the laptop.
If i get this laptop, iwill privately be able to develop studies, online networking, researches, online works etc.
My mobile phone repair laboratory is progressing well.I focus on developing my skills first.
This technology will be of great help for the majority of Africans leaving in rural areas, where solar energy is the only source of light/energy to charge their moble phones..
Majority of the Africans, from rual areas want to own and access mobile phone services for their communicative efforts on development, and they face energy problem for charging their phones.Relevant Techianicians availability poses another problems.
In rural Africa, mobile phone technology is very important for internet connection, study and reseach, trade, medicines, educational materials etc..
So competitive skills development is highly demanded.Unemeplynyment rate for youth is worse….we create techncal skills for them though practical doings.
