Ospedale Sant’Orsola – Matiri.
DESCRIZIONE INIZIATIVA
Il progetto Ospedale Sant’Orsola ha come obiettivo l’informatizzazione dell’Ospedale St. Orsola a Matiri (Maru), nel Kenya. Iniziato nel febbraio 2008, il progetto è nato grazie alla collaborazione con l’associazione Un Ospedale per Tharaka.
L’ospedale è stato dotato, in diverse fasi, di pc e infrastrutture che permettano l’informatizzazione di alcune operazioni contabili e di controllo cartelle. Sui pc è stato installato Open Hospital, il software sviluppato da ISF per la gestione cartelle dei pazienti, della farmacia, dei reparti e laboratori: alcuni volontari dell’associazione, nel corso di periodici viaggi, hanno sviluppato e modificato il software avvicinandolo alle specifiche esigenze dell’ospedale. Sono stati inoltre tenuti dei corsi di alfabetizzazione informatica per permettere al personale di utilizzare le strumentazioni in piena autonomia. Il progetto vuole inoltre dotare l’ospedale la struttura di hardware e software con i quali sviluppare futuri servizi di e-learninge teleconsulto: a breve le prossime fasi del progetto.

THE PROJECT :
The aim of this project is the computerization of St. Orsola Hospital Orsola Hospital in Matiri (Maru), Kenya. This project was launched in February 2008 with the help of “Un Ospedale per Tharaka” association.
The hospital was equipped, in various steps, of PCs and infrastructures allowing the automation of a few accountancy operations and the digital filling up of medical records. Open Hospital – the software application developed by ISF for the management of medical records, the pharmacy and the labs – was installed on the PCs. Same ISF volunteers developed and modified the software in various stages, adapting it to the specific needs of the hospital. Some computer literacy courses were organized in order to enable the hospital staff to use the tools autonomously.
A further objective of this project is to provide the hospital with some hardware and software tools for the development of some e-learning and teleconsulting services. These stages should start soon!
